  • Application form: Full name, date of birth, gender, country, phone number, email address, WhatsApp number, preferred programme and department, educational or professional background, statement of purpose, reference contact details, and uploaded documents (statement PDF/Word).
  • Contact form: Name, email address, and message content.
  • Notify Me form: Email address and programme interest.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: IP address, browser type, operating system, pages visited, time spent, and referring URLs — collected via Google Analytics 4 and server logs.
  • Cookies: Session cookies (WordPress), analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4), and performance cookies (LiteSpeed Cache). We do not use advertising cookies.

  • Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) — email delivery and notification service (EU-based, GDPR compliant)
  • Google Analytics 4 — anonymised website analytics (you can opt out via the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on)
  • Bluehost / Newfold Digital — web hosting and database storage
  • WPForms — form processing and secure storage of application data

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or regulatory authority.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your application data is stored in a password-protected MySQL database on Bluehost’s shared hosting infrastructure. Access is restricted to authorised AfBridge staff only. We use HTTPS encryption (TLS) for all data transmission. Application documents (statements) are stored in a protected directory inaccessible via direct URL.

Despite our measures, no internet transmission is 100% secure. We encourage you not to submit sensitive financial or identity documents beyond what the application requires.

6. Retention

  • Application data: Retained for 24 months from the date of submission, or for the full duration of enrolment plus 12 months, whichever is longer.
  • Contact form messages: Retained for 12 months.
  • Notify Me emails: Retained until you unsubscribe or the programme opens (whichever comes first).
  • Analytics data: Google Analytics data is anonymised and retained for 14 months.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”)
  • Withdraw consent (where processing is based on consent)
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interest
  • Request restriction of processing
  • Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority
