Frequently Asked Questions

Tech Requirements and Access

What device do I need to study at AfBridge?

AfBridge works on any smartphone, tablet, or computer. You do not need a laptop to get started.

How much data do I need per month?

Approximately 1–2 GB per month for a full Certificate programme, less for a Spark Certificate. All live sessions are recorded and available for offline or low-bandwidth catch-up within 24 hours.

What happens if I miss a live session due to power or connectivity?

All live sessions are recorded. You will have access to the full recording within 24 hours of the session. Weekly checkpoint tasks can be submitted within a 48-hour window.

Is AfBridge available in my country?

Yes. AfBridge is 100% online and open to learners anywhere in the world.

Is AfBridge accredited?

AfBridge Centre of Innovative Studies is in the process of formal accreditation with the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC). Programmes are delivered in partnership with NationsUniversity, USA — an accredited higher education institution — and certificates carry the NationsUniversity seal. AfBridge will update all programme pages as the GTEC accreditation process advances.

How long does each programme take?

All current programmes are three months in duration — fourteen weeks including the final integrative project. This is designed to be completable alongside full-time work or ministry, studying an average of eight to ten hours per week.

Can I work while studying?

Yes — AfBridge is designed specifically for working professionals. All content is asynchronous and self-paced within each module’s two-week window. The only synchronous requirement is the fortnightly live session, which is recorded for those who cannot attend live. Your job, ministry, or business does not need to pause for you to study at AfBridge.

What happens if I miss a live session?

All live sessions are recorded and made available in your Moodle course within 24 hours of the session. Attendance at live sessions is encouraged but not compulsory for passing the module. However, live sessions are the primary opportunity to ask questions of your instructor and engage with your cohort — regular attendance is strongly recommended.

Can I defer or pause my studies?

Yes. Students who need to pause their studies due to an emergency, illness, or significant life event can request a deferral of up to one intake cycle (one month). Deferrals beyond one month are assessed individually by the academic team. Contact your student support officer as soon as you know you need to defer. Deferrals are not granted retrospectively.

What is the graduation deliverable and can I choose my own project?

The graduation deliverable is the specific outcome your programme requires you to produce as evidence of your skills before the certificate is issued. The type of deliverable is set by your programme — for example, a registered business for Startup Entrepreneurship, or a deployed web application for Frontend Engineering. Within the defined type, you have full freedom to choose the subject, sector, and scope of your project. You are encouraged to build something that matters to your life, your community, or your existing work.

What if I fail a module?

If you score below 50% on a module assignment, you will be offered one resubmission opportunity within two weeks. If the resubmission also falls below 50%, the academic team will assess whether you can continue to the next module or need to retake the module in the following intake cycle. Continuous failure across more than two modules may result in withdrawal from the programme, though this is reviewed individually and support is offered before any withdrawal decision.

Is the application fee refundable?

There is no application fee at AfBridge — applying costs nothing. Once you have paid your enrolment fee and started the programme, the enrolment fee is non-refundable. If you withdraw before your start date, AfBridge will refund 80% of your enrolment payment, less any bank transfer or payment processing charges.

I live outside Ghana — can I apply?

Yes. AfBridge is 100% online and accepts students from anywhere in the world. Fees can be paid in GHS or USD via Flutterwave (for students outside Ghana), which supports card payments across most African markets, the UK, USA, and Europe. All programme content, assessment, and certification is identical regardless of your location.

How do I pay using mobile money?

On receipt of your enrolment invoice, click the Pay Now link. Select your mobile network — MTN, Vodafone, or AirtelTigo — and enter your mobile money number. You will receive a payment prompt on your phone. Approve the payment. Your enrolment is confirmed automatically within 60 seconds of payment approval.

Who awards the certificate?

Certificates are issued by AfBridge Centre of Innovative Studies in partnership with NationsUniversity, USA. Each certificate carries the AfBridge institutional seal, the NationsUniversity name and seal, the student’s full legal name, the programme title and department, the completion date, and a unique certificate number with a QR code linking to the AfBridge certificate verification page.

Can my employer verify my certificate?

Yes. Every AfBridge certificate carries a unique certificate number and a QR code that links to the public verification page at afbridgeonline.org/verify/[certificate-number]. Any employer, denomination, or partner organisation can scan the QR code or visit the verification URL to confirm the certificate’s authenticity — with no login required.

What technology do I need to study?

A smartphone with a reliable internet connection is sufficient to access all course content, participate in discussions, and complete most written assignments. For Technology department programmes (Frontend Engineering, Backend Engineering, Cloud & DevOps), a laptop or desktop computer is strongly recommended for building and deploying your graduation project. All AfBridge course platforms are optimised for Android Chrome, the dominant browser across West Africa.
